Environmental Econ PhD Candidate

I am a PhD Candidate at Cornell Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management.

I study Environmental and Resource economics, and I’m particularly interested in water management and climate change adaptation.

My job market paper is about how California farmers take up water conserving and groundwater intensifying adaptation based on surface water scarcity announced at different points in the planting season. I find that (ex-ante) adaptation to expected scarcity is highly privately beneficial, and imposes minimal contemporaneous external costs, though it does generate some longer-run costs through increased well drilling. (Ex-post) adaptation to scarcity announced late in the season results in substantial increases in groundwater use.

My CV is here. You can reach me at asm395@cornell.edu.
